Guest Speakers on the PFSA Scouting Courses

Over the years the PFSA have had plenty of guest speakers from the world of both football scouting and talent identification as they look to share their knowledge of the industry. Guest Speakers range from Manchester United Assistant Manager Mick Phelan to Director of Football at Salford City and Class of 92 Chris Casper. Below is a snippet of those who have volunteered to speak on the PFSA Scouting Course adding testament to the quality of our content.

Mike Phelan
Assistant Manager Manchester United
Micky is undeniably a legend at Manchester United having spent many successful years alongside Sir Alex Ferguson.
Micky came onto the PFSA Level 2 Scouting Course to talk about both his career at Manchester United and his new football venture with Sensible Soccer.
Micky was accompanied by Dave Shorrocks who has a MSc In Talent Development who is currently Mickys partner within Sensible Soccer.

Chris Casper
Director of Football at Salford City and Class of 92 graduate
Chris Casper is the Sporting Director for Salford City FC and was also a graduate of the famous Class of 92. The PFSA are proud to work closely with both Chris and Salford with the PFSA Scouting Network.

Paul McGuiness
Former Manchester United Youth Team Manager
Paul McGuiness is the former Manchester United Youth Team head coach. Paul has spoken on the PFSA Level 2 discussing both talent identification and talent development within an elite academy such as Manchester United.

Steve Jones
Ex-Head of Opposition Analysis at Cardiff City and Millwall
Steve is an exceptional match analyst with over 20 years in the game. He is currently the Head of Opposition Analysis for Championship Side Cardiff City, creating an intricate and detailed analysis of the opposition for consumption by first-team management. Steve also works with the PFSA as a tutor on the PFSA Level 2 Opposition Analysis in Football courses.

Tony Whelan
Assistant Academy Director of Manchester United
Tony is currently the Assistant Academy Director and Head of Coaching for Manchester United’s Academy and has overseen some of Manchester’s finest talents come through their academy. Tony took time out to come and discuss talent identification and talent development to our football scouts on the PFSA Level 2 Scouting Course.

Lee Maybury
Ex-Chief and Head Scout for Stoke, Burnley and Portsmouth
Lee has over 14 years experience at elite Level as either a Head or Chief Scout for the likes of Stoke, Burnley and Portsmouth. Lee regularly drops into the online PFSA Level 2 Talent Identification In Football courses to discuss his rise to the top level of football, giving our users expert advice on their journey into football scouting.

Richard Bredice
Burnley and Ex-Manchester City - 1st Team Analyst
Richard Bredice is currently engaged with Premier League side Burnley FC as a 1st Team Analyst having been approached by manager Vincent Kompany during his time at Manchester City. Prior to Anderlecht, Richard was a first-team analyst with Manchester City. Richard also helps develop content and courses with the PFSA as a member of the association.

David Webb
Ex-Head of Football Operations for then Premier League side Huddersfield Town
Technical Director at Swedish side Ostersunds in 2018/19 and Head of Football Operations at Huddersfield Town in 2019/20. He has significant experience in recruitment, having been Head of Elite Potential Identification at Tottenham and Head of First Team Recruitment at Bournemouth.
David also has a Masters in sports psychology and is a Uefa A Licence coach. He spoke to TGG about his work with Crystal Palace
